Five 4th of July Movie Moments That Will Make Your Day That Much Better

By Jameson Brown · July 4, 2014

Independence Day

Nothing packs more punch than B. Pullman rallying up the troops (literally) and giving his version of Kenneth Branagh's Henry V speech. A little Shakespeare goes a long way, so I will admit that I enjoy Pullman's speech much more. The other version puts me to sleep almost instantaneously.

Born on the Fourth of July

Tom Cruise flexes his acting chops in Born on the Fourth of July and shows us a much darker, home war side of Vietnam. This movie does bleed patriotism, but in a very dark way.

JAWS

Easy. Blowing up killer sharks over the Fourth of July holiday. Enough said.

The Patriot

Albeit almost identical to Braveheart, and the fact that Gibson should probably be committed, this scene has a waving flag, loud cheers and Merica. Grab a couple beers and this is a hell of a show.

The Sandlot

A childhood classic, The Sandlot depicts what it means to be a kid who plays neighborhood ball. That ultimate theme is well captured as each player gazes into the burning night with stars in their eyes.
