Trailer of the Week: Tusk

By Cameron Cubbison · September 19, 2014

This trailer has been out for a while, but we debated whether or not to choose it for the Trailer of the Week. Kevin Smith has also had some recent misfires lately in an attempt to hit the horror/comedy button and have a successful launch. Yes the reviews for this one have not been grand, but the subject matter is too damn interesting for us not to at least spotlight it. Tusk follows podcaster Wallace Bryton to Canada where he must interview a strange man by the name of Howard Howe (the always fun to watch Michael Parks) with a fixation on walruses. The end game? Mr. Howe wants to "change" Wallace into his beloved creature. This film immediately reminded me of Goosebumps, both the books and the show. It has a decent combination of horror and comedy, but the story is a one-hit punch that is more fitting for a thirty-minute episode vs. a feature length film. Either way, it's weird and creepy enough to change things up a bit and get us ready for the Halloween season ahead.
