It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 8 Premiere
Written by Carl Stoffers Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 2:29 PM

There was some concern among fans of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia that the marketing campaign leading to the season eight premiere would spell doom for the show. Several seconds into “Pop-Pop: The Final Solution,” it was obvious that the “change of cast” stunt was just that, and the gang is just as dysfunctional and diabolically stupid as ever.

The League: Season 4 Premiere
Written by Matt Meier Sunday, October 14, 2012, 2:08 PM

The line was already out the door when I arrived at USC 45 minutes early for the screening of the season four premiere of The League (followed by a Q & A with creators Jeff and Jackie Marcus Schaffer). It’s not the first time I had experienced such a crowd for a screening and Q&A, but it was the only time that I did not mind waiting in the congested theater. I spent the time jesting with fellow students about our fantasy teams, the Eagles’ turnover issues, the Bears’ inability/refusal to assemble an adequate offensive line, and a range of other NFL-related subjects. There was no small talk about the show itself that we had all come to see, nothing of a favorite episode or character, our excitement to meet the creators, or our expectations of the new season.

I feel like I’m beating a dead horse when I say, “What is it with vampires?” And the worst part about it? I thought their reign would be over by now. But how could I think that? They’ve been around for years and like a torn up pair of jeans, they never go out of style. Vlad the Impaler must have been a real celebrity in his time.

Although Arrow premiered to some of the best CW numbers in years, the not-actually-a-spinoff of Smallvillle series opener felt less like an exhilarating superhero origin story and more like a 43-minute travel infomercial.

You know what always got me? Jared Padalecki gets first billing in the Supernatural title sequence credits. That’s not to say that he or his abs aren’t wonderful, but I’ve always had more of a weakness for Jensen Ackles and his gruff, cheeseburger-loving character Dean. Padalecki’s Sam may represent the sort of hyper-nerd that I would generally be attracted to, but the outdated chauvinism of Ackles’ Dean…it’s just dreamy. I suppose I’ve always had a weakness for the older ones.
