Terrence Malick's new film is here. Oh, wait. Oops! That'd be A.J. Edwards' new film arriving. The Better Angels official trailer has landed and sports some cinematography we've seen before. The story revolves around the childhood and rise of Abraham Lincoln when he was a young boy growing up in the wilderness of Indiana. A strong cast of supporting characters (Jason Clarke and Diane Kruger to be specific) will surround Braydon Denney's first cinematic performance as Abe. Quite a chunky role for the young newcomer.
The camera work and narrative almost perfectly line up with Terrence Malick's recent works The Tree of Life and To the Wonder. That is because Malick protege and editor A.J. Edwards has been tightly linked to Malick's atmosphere over the past years. We are not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but the story is an engaging one. Only time will tell if Edwards' direction can break the mold of previous Malick misfires.
