The New Script Lab: 4 Features to Get Excited About

By V Ren茅e 路 September 18, 2021

The Script Lab got a huge makeover! Here are all the cool things you can see and do.

It’s Christmas in September, gang! We’re so excited to unveil the brand new Script Lab. This massive redesign adds exciting functionality that will make discovering your favorite screenplays easier than ever, from optimized search tools to informative pages for each and every script.

Want to check out every Netflix script we carry? You got it. Want to get your hands on every Tarantino script? We gotchu. Want to read the screenplay that everybody’s talking about? Say no more.

Lets take a look at what’s new!

A Sleek New Look

As you might’ve noticed, The Script Lab looks… different. At the risk of sounding biased, I’d say the ol’ gal looks more beautiful than ever and not just because the layout and color scheme have been given a much-needed modern update, but also because we’ve put scripts front-and-center.

After all, our mission is to give budding screenwriters the resources and tools they need to learn the craft, and script downloads are a huge part of that.

Now, users can use The Script Lab’s new functionality to quickly find their favorite screenplays, discover ones they’ve never seen before, and read articles that provide thorough analysis on the conventions that make them great.

And, as always, downloading them is free. 馃憤

All Films & TV Shows Have Their Own Pages

Look, we all know that scrolling a super long list of script downloads is fun and all, but we wanted to give you something better.

Now, every film and TV show on The Script Lab has its own page, complete with helpful information like genre, writer(s), production company, and a brief synopsis. This is also where you can find any additional versions and episodes of that title, as well as similar scripts and related articles.

So, if you want to binge-read a bunch of screenplays from, say, The Crown, you can find every episode we have on the show’s page, as well as a bunch of other similar historical/biopic scripts and all articles that provide analysis of the show.

Overhauled Script Search Options (Plus, Trending!)

What good is a library if you can’t find what you’re looking for? That’s why we gave our script search options a complete overhaul.

Now you can easily explore scripts by writer, franchise, production company, most popular, trending, year of release, or just plain old alphabetically.

Here’s how:

Search Bar

Our trusty search bar will now help you find both screenplay downloads聽and聽related articles.

Top Scripts

Clicking Top Scripts allows you to browse our full Script Library, which hosts over 1600 screenplays from film and TV.

Looking for something more specific? Use our new聽Sort By聽and聽Filter tools to narrow your search based on what’s trending, most popular, as well as different formats, genres, and more.

So… if you wanted to find what we have in the “feature-length action film released between 1970 and 1980” department, you could. And you’d find lots of Planet of the Apes and聽Star Wars,聽and also Logan’s Run… but also聽Flash Gordon, which is just spectacular.

Speaking of Search… It’s MUCH Faster Now

If you’re an OG TSL Script Library user, you’ll remember how long it used to take for searches to load. Not anymore. We worked hard to make sure you can get your search results for both articles and scripts fast.

Suggestions?

Now it’s time to have fun and take the new Script Lab for a spin. Search all the titles! Check out all of the script recommendations! Craft the most complicated filter possible.
