VIDEO: Award Winning Doc Explores Healthcare Crisis

"Code Black" depicts the real life ER of LA County hospital while revealing insight on the health care crisis. Director Ryan McGarry was a senior resident when the film was made, seeing a story existed in the lives of his fellow doctors and patients. The film premiered at LA Film Fest, taking home the Best Documentary award, and recently winning the same title at the Hamptons International Film Fest. In the midst of the American health care changes, the documentary provides its own powerful exploration . McGarry talks getting the movie made and the challenges he faces as both a doctor and a filmmaker.
