WATCH: ‘Cold in July’ Filmmakers talk Sam Shepard & Sundance 2014

By Meredith Alloway · January 22, 2014

The duo that brought "We Are What We Are" to Sundance last year is back with Southern noir thriller 'Cold in July." Mickle directs and co-writes the film with Nick Damici. The story centers on Richard (Michael C. Hall), a man who murders a burglar in his home and suffers both the physical and emotional wounds of the crime. He's pitted against the victim's father Russel (Sam Shepard) and soon the story unravels into a tale of revenge and truth. The two filmmakers chat with ATW about balancing the humor in the film and allowing Shepard to step in on writing the script.
