Bird People finds Gary Newman (Josh Charles) in Paris trying to start a fresh life. He disconnects from all forms of communication with people in his previous life and starts a new path. Sound similar to another story? If you guessed Lost in Translation then you'd be correct. These foreign fish out of water stories will always have an intriguing concept, but they are starting to become another vehicle of familiarity. The good news is that Josh Charles seems to be a good casting choice for this and it will be good to see him tackle this on a feature level. And jeez, what's with all the heavy-handed "bird-i-ness."
