With the new year among us, we here at The Script Lab have been busy catching up on all of the best (and much-needed) cinematic escapism that 2016 had to offer. In some respects, this has proven to be rather difficult given the surprising onslaught of incredible releases from across the globe, all released within a rather short period of time. From neo-westerns, to brainy science fiction, musicals, and indie darlings, it’s hard to beat this year for sheer variety – even with one of the absolute worst blockbuster seasons in recent memory. Fortunately, the good far outweighs the bad – so without further adieu – here are our ten favorite films of 2016:
