Welcome back to The Script Lab’s weekly contest roundup – our gathering of all the latest in contest news, and announcements for screenwriters looking to unleash their latest masterpiece on the right crowd. Screenwriting competitions are tried and true when it comes to making the sort of splash necessary for planting one’s foot firmly in the door, so remember to check back often (every Monday, in fact) for the most up-to-date info on all the weekly winners and deadlines.

Weekly News and Announcements:
Finalists announced in 4 categories, including feature, short, 60 minute teleplay, and 30 minute teleplay. Winners in each category receive cash prizes, and are invited to attend the Cinequest Writers Celebration, which includes industry mixers, forums, and pitch training sessions.

“Quest For Light” by Bryon Anderson tops the list of winners, which also includes also includes teleplays, short films, and individual scenes. Winning scripts were performed live by professional actors at the 2017 festival. Videos of the readings are available at the link above.
Ten projects and their respective creators have been chosen to participate in this year’s IFP Episodic Labs, with genres spanning from comedy and drama, to science fiction, animation, and VR. Fellows will participate in a series of workshop sessions, as well as receive $10,000 worth of resources (including a residency at the Made in NY Media Center) over a one year period.
