Avengers: Age of Ultron aka The Temple of Doom

By Cameron Cubbison · January 13, 2015

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom will have its spirit live on in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Yes, this has been said. The reason this comparison has been drawn is because Marvel's new sequel (kicking off the 2015 Summer blockbuster season May 1st) heavily promotes the dark chapter because, duh, it is the dark chapter. The middle storyline – traditionally a piece of the trilogy that depicts confusion, struggle and overall darkness of character – is in full force in Whedon's second entry. And what better than to compare what we are seeing so far to The Temple of Doom, one of the best Action/Adventure middle chapters around.

We saw a slight hint of Infinity Wars in Captain America: Winter Soldier, but we will see the first genuine staple of the Infinity Wars with this film. Our pack of heroes will question if they have what it takes to defeat pervasive evil; while they will also break apart from one another (cough, cough Iron Man and Captain America).

This entry will hit harder than usual because of the screenplay's dark tonality and plot points, but also because the much loved James Spader will be at the helm of all the dismemberment.
