The Script Lab Podcast: Jake Kasdan, Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg — Writer/Director and Co-Writers of JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL

Jumanji: The Next Level is a sequel to the wildly successful 2016 film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Both are reboots of the classic 1995 film Jumanji starring Robin Williams. 

The film is good fun for the entire family and adds new characters to the mix, including Eddie (Danny DeVito), Ming Fleetfoot (Awkwafina) and Jurgen the Brutal (Game of Thrones‘ Rory McCann). Spoiler: one character from the 1995 film returns for a cameo.

In this episode, Jake Kasdan, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner talk about taking risks with the Jumanji formula, the power of an antagonist who can go head-to-head with Dwayne Johnson, and Kasdan shares what he’s learned from his four-time Oscar-nominated father, Lawrence Kasdan, writer of films like Solo: A Star Wars Story, Body Heat, The Accidental Tourist and Wyatt Earp.
