James Schamus on Screenwriting and the History of the Screenplay

James Schamus (Pushing Hands, The Ice Storm) goes deep into the actual act of screenwriting, the Writers Guild and the history of how the first screenplay was conceived. 

Schamus also poses a great question: just because you complete a screenplay, does that make it a piece of art? As we all fall under the artistic category, this question is harder to answer than one would think.
