Tarantino is one of a kind to say the least. He has a precise way of doing things, as every perfectionist filmmaker does. But this clip gives great insight into how he treats the scariest thing every screenwriter faces: the blank page.
Treating each page (and each screenplay) like the page of a novel is good advice for both beginner and advanced screenwriters. Honing in on what is solely happening on that page, cinematic creativity aside, can help produce a concise, but developed screenplay. Aspiring screenwriters tend to let directorial decisions cloud their writing judgement. Tarantino's advice is perfect in that it can help reel us back into the page and focus on the bones of the story.
