Dean Craig (Death at a Funeral, A Few Best Men) chats about studio work vs. screenplays that he’s passionate about. And he states that if you have to muster up passion for a project that will probably take six months to a year of your life, then you should not be doing the project in the first place.
Craig also gives a great, singular piece of advice for screenwriters: stay focused. He discusses how “that one story” is all you need to focus on for it to get completed. This coincides with writing what you are passionate about. Would you consider this dedication or obsession?
Do you agree with Craig on letting your screenplay take over and becoming the sole focus of your life (at least for that point in time)?
