Paul Osborne (Favor) goes deep into his screenwriting process timeline and gives a week by week layout of how he writes. He discusses the benefits of a throw up draft, coming back to it after weeks and how dialogue should not be stiff and include multiple layers of subtext.
Osborne’s point about dialogue is a good one to always remember when writing: dialogue should be believable and fit the charatcers. It needs to be real vs. being what may sound good on paper initially.
