Day One at the ScreenCraft Writers Summit in Atlanta

By April Wright · April 14, 2018

It’s really fun to be here in Atlanta AKA Hot-lanta AKA the ATL for the ScreenCraft Writers Summit and Atlanta International Film Festival. This is such a film-friendly town. We know there’s a lot of production here and it has become the Hollywood of the south, but once you’re here and talking to old friends, and meeting new people, you can feel the energy and the passion for filmmaking.

The “Ponce” part of town where the festival takes place is a fun area, easily walkable, lots of great restaurants; it’s a really laid-back and comfortable environment. So if you’ve been on the fence about attending, the setting is really great for networking and you will feel very welcome here. So put it on your list for next year!

Both the summit and the festival kick off tonight. For anyone who likes to get their drink on, and let’s face it, we are writers, so that’s redundant, this evening has the Summit happy hour followed by the Festival opening night film and party. So if you love to get your drink on AND be immersed in rooms full of people who love to talk about movies and the craft of writing, this is your cup of tea. Or Vodka. Whatever. I’m not judging.

We’ve only just begun. Stay tuned for thoughts on the rest of the weekend.
