1. INCITING INCIDENT

Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) has been pursuing the new girl in town, Aliie (Rachel McAdams). After spending a night together at the movies, they walk the empty streets of the town talking. Noah asks Ally to dance and as they waltz, they fall in love. (00:18:02)

2. LOCK IN (End of Act One)

One night Noah takes Allie to the abandon Windsor plantation that he plans to rebuild one day. They decide to make love for the first time.  (00:30:12)

3. FIRST CULMINATION (Midpoint)

Allie, who is now engaged to the wealthy Lon Hammond (James Mardsen), sees a picture of Noah next to the newly restored Windsor Plantation in the paper. She returns to Noah and after spending a few days together, they confess, “it’s still not over,” for either of them. They make love. (1:05:26)

4. MAIN CULMINATION (End of Act Two)

Allie returns to Noah after meeting with her mother and learning that her fiancé is in town. She is now unsure about the decision to leave Lon for Noah. (1:36:45)

5. THIRD ACT TWIST

Allie ultimately chooses Noah and returns to the Windsor Plantation. At the same moment, it’s revealed that the two elderly people reading “The Notebook” are actually Noah and Allie. (1:45:40)
