1. INCITING INCIDENT
John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn) are expert wedding crashers who at the tail end of wedding season, decide to crash the wedding of Secretary Cleary’s eldest daughter. When they arrive, each notice a Cleary daughter to purse: John for Claire (Rachel McAdams) and Jeremy for Gloria (Isla Fisher). (00:15:32)
2. LOCK IN (End of Act One)
During the reception, Jeremy sleeps with Gloria and she’s instantly obsessed with him. She convinces her father, Secretary Cleary (Christopher Walken) to invite both John and Jeremy, who are posing as brothers, to their home by the lake. John, who is falling for Claire, convinces Jeremy to accept the invitation in spite of his fear of Gloria “The Stage 5 Clinger.” (00:34:51)
3. FIRST CULMINATION (Midpoint)
John has been spending time with Claire at the Cleary’s house and is falling for her. One day they take a bike ride to the beach where and Claire kisses John. That night at dinner, Claire’s boyfriend Sack (Bradley Cooper), announces that they’re getting married. Jeremy also finds out that Gloria was in fact not a virgin when they slept together: now he’s interested. (1:26:00)
4. MAIN CULMINATION (End of Act Two)
John has just miserably failed at getting Claire back and been jumped by her fiancé Sack. He then walks in on Jeremy and Gloria together and leaves in a rage yelling, “Judas!” His best friend has been sneaking around behind his back and lied to him. (1:40:31)
5. THIRD ACT TWIST
In the middle of the Jeremy and Gloria’s wedding, John bursts through the doors and delivers a declaration of love to Gloria’s Maid of Honor, Claire. Despite Sack’s protests from the pews, Claire agrees to be with John. (1:53:30)
