Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

1. INCITING INCIDENT

Olive learns she qualified for the "Little Miss Sunshine" beauty contest being held in Redondo Beach, California in two days. (00:16:16)

2. LOCK IN (End of Act One)

When Richard asks Olive if she thinks she can win Little Miss Sunshine, Olive screams "Yes!" with white-hot determination. Now it's settled. Richard smiles and slaps the table: "We're going to California!" (00:21:54)

3. FIRST CULMINATION (Midpoint)

After staying at a roadside motel for the night, Olive enters Richard and Sheryl's room to declare: "Grandpa won't wake up." Now they're stuck at the hospital with a corpse they can't leave behind. (00:50:45)

4. MAIN CULMINATION (End of Act Two)

The family finally makes it to San Diego – only 5 minutes too late. Richard begs and pleads, ultimately convincing the sound guy to put Olive in the system, and then Richard signs the release to register Olive into the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. (1:14:06)

5. THIRD ACT TWIST

Olive's dance routine that Grandpa secretly helped choreographed is a shocker to everybody, including her family. It's a burlesque performance to Rick James' "Super Freak". (1:29:37)
