Cameron Crowe is a screenwriter we will forever have respect for – one that’s deep-seeded nostalgia bleeds through the screen with almost every film he makes. Sometimes that’s good; other times it’s a little much. As of late, Crowe has ventured away from this formula and it has not necessarily been a negative in his storytelling. We Bought a Zoo was a family film. Let’s repeat that: We Bought a Zoo was a family film. Fast Times, Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous were adult films that dealt with adult problems with acute writing and highly sensitive direction.

Hopefully, Aloha (from what it seems) can blend the best of these two different worlds Crowe lives in on a regular basis.
