Dave Boyle Talks LAFF Winner “Man from Reno”

The LA Film Fest Narrative Competition jury awarded director Dave Boyle's Man from Reno as the festival's Best Feature. The thriller follows a Japanese mystery author and small town sheriff who unite to solve a murder in San Francisco. The film has a bilingual storyline and re-invents the thriller genre. I had a chance to chat with Boyle about his departure from his previous work in comedy and romance. He chats shooting a low-budget mystery, finding inspiration from his actors and keeping the tone elegant.
