Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit, Fargo) write and direct Hail, Caesar!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum, Hail, Caesar! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix.
Judging by the trailer, Hail, Caesar looks like it’ll fall more into the “fun” side of the Coens’ filmography. Think less No Country For Old Men, and more The Big Lebowski. Longtime fans of the brothers should take note — the new film takes place in and around Capitol Pictures, the very same fictional studio that appeared in 1991’s Barton Fink. While it’s doubtful that Joel and Ethan Coen are fixing for a slice of the shared-universe pie, it’s still a neat throwback. By the way, if you’re an aspiring screenwriter and you haven’t seen Barton Fink, what are you waiting for?
