Mischievous Cat Latest to Join Family Friendly Slate Including “Mr. Ed” and “ The Brave Little Toaster”

Los Angeles, CA (October 17, 2012) -- Family-based production outfit Waterman Entertainment has secured the feature rights to the iconic comic strip character HEATHCLIFF, it was announced today by the company’s Head of Development, Cooper Waterman. Waterman made the deal directly with rights holder, Peter Gallagher.

Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films to Handle International Sales for Sam Kadi’s ‘The Citizen’

Veteran Sales Agent Presents Filmmaker’s First Feature to Distributors Following International Premiere at Abu Dhabi

Los Angeles, CA (October 11, 2012) –  3K Pictures announces today that veteran sales agent Mimi Steinbauer and her company Radiant Films International is handling all worldwide rights excluding North America to director Sam Kadi’s debut drama THE CITIZEN.  Previously, Steinbauer has handled international sales on titles such as Academy Award winning THE HURT LOCKER, GHOSTRIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE 3D, BLUE VALENTINE and the box office phenomenon LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.  THE CITIZEN was produced by Kadi, Chris Wyatt (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE) and Alan Noel Vega, with Ameer Kabour executive producing. The film is currently scheduled to screen for distributors at the upcoming American Film Market after the international premiere at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival on October 14th.

AMPHIBIOUS: CREATURE OF THE DEEP Rises from the Sea with Freestyle Digital Media

Los Angeles, CA (September 27, 2012) – Freestyle Digital Media has acquired all North American rights to AMPHIBIOUS, a tongue-in-cheek creature feature directed by Brian Yuzna (“Beyond Re-Animator”). The film, which was produced by Yuzna and San Fu Maltha (“Iron Sky,” “Black Book”), and stars Michael Paré (“The Lincoln Lawyer”), Janna Fassaert (“Couple’s Retreat”) and Verdi Solaiman (“The Raid: Redemption”), is slated for VOD and multiple platform release on October 9th with a DVD release to follow shortly after.

Official Selection Will Screen In Competition on October 14th

Ashok Amritraj to Host ‘CHANCE OF A LIFETIME’’, Bringing Filmmakers Together From the Middle East, India and Singapore

Acclaimed Film Will Have Exclusive Rollout this Fall.

Los Angeles, CA (September 24, 2012) – Freestyle Releasing announced today that they have acquired all domestic rights to GENIUS ON HOLD, the hard hitting documentary written and directed by Gregory Marquette (“Innocents”). The film was produced by Walter T. Shaw, and co-produced by Diana Ross-Shaw and is narrated by Frank Langella (fresh from his Oscar-worthy role in “Robot & Frank”). GENIUS ON HOLD debuted as an official selection at the Palm Beach International Film Festival and Soho International Film Festival this past year.

Strategic Investment Partners Look to Finance 12-15 Films Annually

Los Angeles (September 21, 2012) – Minneapolis-based private investment firm EBF & Associates and Kevin Frakes’ PalmStar Media Capital announced today the formation of Merced Media Partners, a strategic partnership that is targeting  investments in approximately 15 films per year.  Merced was introduced to the industry at this year’s Cannes Film Market, where it began seeking investment opportunities.  Since then, Merced has circled over $20M in financing for an initial slate of pictures leading into TIFF, including EVERY SECRET THING starring Diane Lane and Elizabeth Banks, to be directed by Amy Berg; CHAINED to be directed by and starring Ryan Phillippe and CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR starring Isabel Lucas, to be directed by Elizabeth Allen.  Merced recently closed on a structured facility for some of Exclusive Media’s upcoming titles, the first of which is Ron Howard’s RUSH.  Merced plans to announce additional investments leading up to the American Film Market in November.
